The Wisconsin State FFA Camp was built around 1938 by Mr. C.H. Bonsack. The original purpose for developing the State FFA Camp was to provide an opportunity for chapters to observe conservation procedures in the northern part of the state. To reach this objective, the camp was located on Jag Lake in Vilas County, which was once forested but is now a "cut over" area. Jag Lake was selected because it offered an area where a camp could be developed which would provide leadership and recreational opportunities for their FFA members and officer teams.
